According to Paglini, she could employ her methods to harm another person if the spells were "justified"—meaning the target had caused intentional harm—and if doing so would restore karmic balance.
Paglini also discussed the use of plants and objects to shield magicians from negative influences or to attract positive outcomes. She explained that the distinction between "white" and "black" magic essentially boils down to the difference between acting out of love or out of greed.
