Mars Photo Anomalies

Date

Hosted byArt Bell

Guest for the full program, researcher Richard C. Hoagland discussed dramatic findings on what he called "intelligently designed artifacts" gleaned from infrared images obtained by the Mars Odyssey satellite. The supposed structures appeared to exist over 2000 feet below the surface of the planet. Hoagland pointed out that the findings had been confirmed by earlier Soviet data using the same instrument, and another on the craft that used lasers to scan the surface. Art looked at the images supplied by Hoagland and remarked that it looked like a suburb.

Later, volunteer NASA photo expert Keith Lainey joined the program to offer his analysis of the photos. He said he "was scared to death" by what he saw in the images. Lainey emphasized that he was an unpaid consultant, but that NASA noticed his commentary and expertise and released the images to him.

Hoagland and Lainey also discussed accusations of a hoax that were coming from an online chatroom. Lainey remarked that NASA told him they were "looking forward to my results" of his image analysis. In the last half-hour, the two guests took calls from listeners.
