'Alien' Spotted Riding in Backseat of Car on Google Earth

By Tim Binnall

A search for directions on Google Earth left a Maine woman scratching her head when she stumbled upon what appears to be an alien riding in the backseat of a car. The very weird discovery was reportedly made by Crystal Patterson as she was using the popular mapping service to find out how to get to a yard sale that was being held in the community of Mapleton. While going over the route, her attention was drawn to a car that struck her as particularly peculiar. "The driver looked naked," she recalled, "so I zoomed in because I'm nosy." However, Patterson soon found herself looking at something even stranger when she noticed an anomaly in the backseat that bears an uncanny resemblance to an alien.

Posting the puzzling photo to social media, she explained how she had accidentally found the bewildering sight and asked "can someone please tell me what I’m looking at in the backseat?" As one might imagine, the eerie image elicited an array of responses from people online with many marveling that she may have spotted an alien, while less imaginative individuals chalked the curious sight up to a trick of light and shadow or perhaps a party decoration being transported at the precise moment when the car was photographed by Google. What's your take on the weird photo? Is the anomaly merely a Google glitch or could it be an ET in a PT Cruiser rolling through the streets of Mapleton, Maine?
