Alleged Vandal in South Carolina Faces Additional Charge for 'Concerning' Opossum Toss

A South Carolina man faces a litany of charges following an alleged vandalism spree that, authorities say, included a felonious opossum toss. According to a press release from the Columbus County Sheriff's Office, suspect Walker Chase Richardson was arrested on Monday for smashing a staggering number of mailboxes across three separate communities. At some point, "during this spree of property damage," the department noted, was "one particularly unusual and concerning incident" that earned the young man an additional odd charge.

Specifically, the press release said, Richardson allegedly tossed a dead opossum "onto the porch of a residence as part of the destructive acts." Alas, they did not indicate how he acquired the unfortunate animal's remains or if he was responsible for its untimely demise. That said, he undoubtedly regrets running into the critter, as, in addition to a whopping 14 counts of injury to real property and 10 counts of misdemeanor conspiracy, Richardson was also charged with felony littering of hazardous waste for tossing the opossum.
