American Tourists Busted for Breaking into Roman Colosseum to Drink Beer

Authorities in Italy busted a pair of American tourists who broke into Rome's famed Colosseum in order to have a once-in-a-lifetime beer at the iconic site. The weird incident reportedly occurred this past Monday morning at around 5:30 local time when a person walking past the ancient amphitheater noticed that there were two people hanging around on the second level of the ancient stadium at a spot that overlooks the city. Since the monument was closed to the public at the time, the bewildered witness promptly called the police to report the odd interlopers.

Shortly after receiving the call, cops spotted the suspects as they were walking down the street away from the site. Upon questioning, the two American tourists admitted to police that they had broken into the landmark by scaling a fence and that the purpose of their misadventure was to have a beer inside the legendary landmark. As one might imagine, authorities were not too thrilled with their actions and the young men were fined $900 each for breaking into an archaeological site.
