Anaconda Photographed in River Thames?

By Tim Binnall

A peculiar photograph circulating online purportedly shows a 'mystery creature' lurking in London's famed River Thames and some suspect that the oddity could be an anaconda. The strange image (which can be seen below) was reportedly posted on Reddit late last week by a user who marveled that they "saw a mad thing in the Thames just now." The puzzling object that caught their eye resembles the head of a red-eyed reptile emerging from the water.

As one might imagine, the photo sparked all manner of speculation from people online with many theorizing that it showed an out-of-place anaconda inexplicably lurking in the iconic river with one particularly clever individual going so far as to bud it the "Loch Thames Monster." However, not everyone was convinced that the anomaly was even a creature at all as several skeptical observers offered more prosaic explanations, including that the 'beast' was merely a bottle cap on a rock or simply a wooden post.
