An intriguing photo snapped by an Australian woman shows what she believes is the arm of a Yowie, the Bigfoot of Down Under, reaching for some food. The thought-provoking image, which came to light a few weeks ago, was reportedly taken on April 19th as witness Belinda Kay was camping in the southeastern part of the country. Recounting the excursion, she noted that it was fraught with weird events, beginning with her being struck by a mysterious pebble while walking her dog. "It came from nowhere," she said, "I felt like I was being followed. I was quite paranoid." However, this was just the start of a strange series of days that may have culminated in a Yowie encounter.
According to Kay, her camp was visited by an Indigenous man the following day and, as he departed, he shockingly told her "Bigfoot lives here," while looking into the forest seemingly in search of the creature. "He pointed to tracks up the hill, and I thought, ‘God, that’s a big track,'" she recalled, "too big for a dingo or wallaby." Kay later stumbled upon a large patch of flattened grass with three small sticks inexplicably arranged like a tripod. "Obviously something has been lying there, and it is quite big," she observed at the time. Kay subsequently decided to leave some carrots and celery in the spot for whatever animal might have made the impression. When she checked the 'bait' around thirty minutes later, all that remained were two carrots.
Now quite curious, she watched the remaining food until "I just saw this brown furry thing reach out of the bush. I thought it was a fox tail at first, but the fur is too long." Fortunately, Kay managed to take a picture of the peculiar form (seen below). The odd experience continued later that night when she exited her camping van and was practically bowled over by a powerful smell that she likened to "really stinking rotting garbage mixed with cheese or sump oil." Asserting that she previously had no interest in the legendary cryptid said to lurk in Australia, Kay indicated that she began researching the Yowie when she returned home and now believes that was what she encountered while camping back in April.
While one might envy Kay for her wondrous experience, she lamented that it has not been particularly well received by her family, who expressed considerable skepticism about the tale. "I have been ridiculed,” she said, "even my daughter is like 'oh, mum.'" Despite their misgivings, Kay was steadfast in her belief that she encountered a Yowie.
