A Belarusian caregiver who fell under the spell of a self-proclaimed psychic robbed her elderly client to pay the mystic not to curse her. According to a local media report, the unfortunate case came to light when the suspect's ward contacted police about some money and jewelry that had gone missing from her home. Cops looking into the matter quickly focused on her caregiver. Upon being questioned, the Minsk resident offered a far-too-familiar tale, explaining that she had connected with an online psychic in hopes of solving some personal problems, and that her life soon took a turn for the worse.
During their session, the mystic informed her that a cloud of dark energy hung over her and that the only way to ward off the bad karma was to pay the clearly crooked clairvoyant. When the woman balked at the dubious deal, the psychic doubled down on his demand, threatening to cast a curse upon her. Believing the mystic's purported powers, but unable to find the funds to prevent being hexed, the desperate caregiver told police that she stole the money and jewelry from her client. The pawned items and pilfered cash, totaling approximately $2,400, were subsequently handed over to the psychic, who ironically wound up 'cursing' the caregiver with the legal issues she now faces.
