Bigfoot Featured on Maine Town's 'I Voted' Sticker

Residents of a Maine community performing their civic duty in this past Tuesday's state primary election had the opportunity to take home a cryptozoological collectible: an 'I Voted' sticker featuring Bigfoot. According to a local media report, the delightful decal (seen below) for the town of Buxton was the brainchild of local officials John Meyers and Angela Michie. While the community has no specific connection to the famed cryptid, the duo decided to showcase Sasquatch on the sticker as a way to get people excited about voting.

"We wanted something that was unique, that might catch people's attention," Meyers explained, "that they might want to take home and keep." It would appear their effort was successful as the Sasquatch sticker has proven to be a big hit among residents who expressed both amusement and appreciation for the unusual decal. To that end, Buxton Human Resources Director Kim Lefebvre, whose husband is something of a Bigfoot buff, indicated that he "thought it was a riot" that the town somehow wound up with the legendary cryptid as "our mascot."

Fortunately for Buxton residents who missed out on getting their hands on the decal earlier this week, they will get another chance in November, as the town purchased a staggering 10,000 Sasquatch stickers, believing the stockpile will last for the next several years. Remarkably, in a testament to Bigfoot's evolution into an American icon in recent years, the Maine town is not the first community to feature the creature on an 'I Voted' sticker, as Idaho's Ada County made headlines last year when they also showcased the cryptid on the decal for their municipal election.
