A drive down a dirt road in Kentucky took a frightening turn for a group of friends when they spotted what they believe was a Sasquatch. The unsettling sighting, reported to the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization (BFRO), occurred on the evening of August 23rd near the community of Hodgenville. According to witness Clayton Sims, he and some friends had stopped at a lookout point along a gravel road close to his home when they "heard what sounded like a distant knock." Thinking the source of the sound could have been Bigfoot, they responded with "a long whistle," which seemingly caused something in the woods to begin moving as they heard noises resembling sticks breaking.
The group smartly exited the area, driving further down the road and then turning around to return from whence they came. Along the way, they stopped again at the lookout, where Sims flashed a hunting spotlight into the woods in the hopes of seeing what might have made the sounds. To his astonishment, the young man saw "a black hairy figure" approximately 40 yards from his truck that was "so dark I couldn't see it until it moved." Estimating that the creature was 7 to 8 feet tall, Sims observed that it had its back to the group, but slightly turned its head as if to see if they were still watching it.
"The outline of the face was ape-like with the cone kinda shaped head," the young man reported, "and a yellowish green eye shine." The unexpected sight understandably prompted Sims to tell his friends that they needed to get out of the area fast, and they subsequently sped away from the scene, wondering what they had just encountered. In a subsequent interview with BFRO, the witness added some additional details to the figure's description, indicating that it had "an extremely bulky build, 3 to 3.5-foot-wide shoulders, a thick chest, very short thick neck, and jet-black, long, somewhat flowing hair, with wiry hair around the shoulders."
