Residents of a Kenyan community are understandably on edge following multiple incidents involving a bizarre bandit who bites his victims if they resist being robbed. The mysterious miscreant, dubbed 'the vampire' by frightened locals, has reportedly been roaming the streets of Ruiru at night for the last several weeks. Those unfortunate enough to encounter the cretin have found themselves bereft of their valuables and, should they try to put up a fight, sporting painful injuries from the ne'er-do-well's strange 'signature.' To that end, in one instance, a man is said to have lost part of his cheek when the biting bandit chomped on his face during a robbery.
With the attacks increasing in frequency, Ruiri resembles a community under siege as, when the sun sets, shops close and residents retreat to their homes, terrified of falling victim to the vampiric villain. As one might imagine, people in the community are calling for increased police patrols of the area in the hopes of putting an end to the toothy troublemaker's reign of terror. For their part, authorities indicated that they are investigating the curious case, but have yet to identify the biting bandit, much less bring the 'vampire' to justice. Should the attacks continue, it may not be long before Ruiri residents take matters into their own hands and hunt down the 'hungry' hooligan themselves.
