Florida police arrested a man for allegedly stealing around $3,500 worth of various meats and then dumping the pilfered products after his planned dinner date went south. The bizarre case reportedly occurred in early January when, cops say, Heannys O. Alvarez Reyna purloined a selection of lamb and beef cuts, valued at approximately $1,500, from a Palm Coast supermarket. That was only the start of his 'shopping spree,' however, as the suspect subsequently stopped at a nearby grocery store about 20 minutes later and stole around $2,000 worth of brisket, pork, top sirloin, and tenderloin.
The curious case only got weirder from there as Reyna later told police that, after stealing the massive amount of meat, he went to his girlfriend's house to presumably lavish her with his ill-gotten grub. Alas, when he arrived at her home, the sticky-fingered romantic discovered his sweetheart cooking dinner with another man. Having lost his appetite due to her betrayal, the crestfallen crook threw out nearly all of the stolen meat. Cops investigating the case eventually caught up with Reyes, who was arrested for the misguided and somewhat heartbreaking heist.
