Brazilian Psychic's Predicted Alien Invasion at World Cup Match Fails to Materialize

By Tim Binnall

A Brazilian psychic's viral prediction of an alien invasion during a World Cup match on Wednesday evening wound up, unsurprisingly, being a bust. Self-proclaimed mystic Vo Bahiana, who boasts a staggering 23 million social media followers, made worldwide headlines earlier this month when she tearfully shared a nightmarish vision of the worst kind of first contact unfolding at the June 24th showdown between Brazil and Scotland at Miami's Hard Rock Stadium. As with many doomsday predictions that capture the public's imagination, anticipation grew into a frenzy as the appointed hour drew near, particularly in the psychic's home country of Brazil, where news outlets and social media were awash with amused chatter about the impending alien invasion.

Even Miami International Airport acknowledged the fantastic forecast ahead of the match. In a Wednesday afternoon social media post, it jokingly announced that "the FAA has just issued an official airspace restriction for tonight's Scotland vs. Brazil match due to reports of... unusual aerial activity in the region," accompanied by a UFO emoji and an image of a flying saucer over the facility. When the teams finally took the field, to the relief of everyone except perhaps the Tartan Army, there was no alien invasion and Brazil bested Scotland 3-0. As of now, it appears that Bahiana has yet to address her incorrect prediction, but one imagines that the influencer is happy to be wrong about the nightmarish vision that netted her a proverbial 15 minutes of global fame.
