A British celebrity psychic has threatened legal action against a fellow soothsayer who happens to share her first name. The strange dispute reportedly came to light when medium Sally Cudmore received a letter from attorneys representing Sally Morgan, a wildly popular television personality who calls herself "Britain's best-loved psychic." Asserting that the mystic owns the trademarks to various permutations of the words 'psychic' and 'Sally,' they demanded that Cudmore stop using the stage name 'Psychic Sal,' lest the public be confused as to which soothsayer was which.
Although she initially found the celebrity psychic's grievance "quite hilarious," the medium indicated that her amusement quickly turned to astonishment when the possibility of a lawsuit arose. Responding to the situation with a musing that is likely to elicit a chuckle, the soothsayer conceded that "to be honest, I didn't see this coming." Pushing back against the psychic's curious claim to the medium's moniker, Cudmore declared, "my name is Sally. It has been since birth. I didn’t borrow it, steal it, trademark it, or contact Sally Morgan for permission."
To that end, the fortune teller suggested that the celebrity soothsayer's lawyers should take their grievances to her mother, since she is the one who named her. Meanwhile, Morgan's spokesperson asserted that she was simply "acting in the best interest of her loyal followers to prevent further confusion caused by Sally Cudmore." Despite the purported abilities of the two soothsayers, it is uncertain if the medium will acquiesce to the celebrity psychic's demands or continue using the name and let the courts settle the dispute.
