A campaign has been launched to create a statue celebrating the Loveland Frogman in the community that the legendary cryptid calls home. Announced last week, the crowd-funded effort would see a bronze sculpture of the amphibious being placed in Loveland's Nesbit Park as part of the city's 150th anniversary festivities. The mysterious cryptid burst onto the proverbial paranormal scene in 1955, when a witness in the Ohio community reported seeing a trio of bipedal creatures sporting frog-like faces, and a pair of subsequent sightings in 1972 solidified the 'Frogman' in Loveland lore.
In recent years, the creature has been having something of a moment with the creation of an annual Loveland Frogman festival. Additionally, back in April, a pair of Ohio lawmakers introduced legislation to designate the mysterious being as the state's official cryptid. One imagines that the organizers of the effort, which is still in the early stages and could take some time to complete, envision the proposed sculpture to serve as a tourist destination in a manner similar to the now-iconic Mothman statue that proudly stands in the city of Point Pleasant, West Virginia.
