In an eerie story out of China, a paranormal content creator recently perished in a car crash, and some have attributed her unexpected death to a video wherein she smashed a religious statue as part of an 'anti-superstition challenge.' Influencer Jiang Xiaorou had reportedly amassed a staggering 1.3 million followers on social media with her presentations on high strangeness. On July 15th, a brutal car accident left the content creator with several severe injuries that ultimately resulted in her death earlier this week. Following Xiaorou's passing, many individuals on Chinese social media made the chilling suggestion that one of her previous videos could have been the cause of the tragic event.

Last August, Xiaorou sparked a considerable stir online when she posted a video in which she used a hammer to smash a statue of the Chinese Buddhist Goddess of Mercy, Guanyin. In the footage, described as an 'anti-superstition challenge,' the content creator mocked the idea that her actions could cause bad luck. While the influencer's fans celebrated the audacious stunt, other Chinese netizens lambasted Xiaorou, calling her disrespectful and warning her that she had cast profound misfortune upon herself by destroying the statue.

With the content creator's shocking death, the controversial video has gone viral again on Chinese social media with many speculating about a possible connection between the two events. As one might imagine, her heartbroken family has called for an end to such chatter, requesting that their loved one be left to rest in peace. Sadly, despite her family's understandable request, Xiaorou's death will likely be forever linked to a proverbial curse in the minds of many. At the very least, one imagines that it will dissuade other content creators from tempting fate in the future.
