A woman in China could face legal repercussions after she kept adjusting a traffic mirror to improve her feng shui, which caused a series of car accidents. According to a local media report, the peculiar case began around two months ago when the unnamed Shanghai resident experienced a bout of bad luck. Hoping to turn her fortunes around, she enlisted the services of an individual adept at feng shui, the practice of creating a harmonious life through the strategic positioning of objects and spaces. Upon visiting her home, the master of the mysterious art quickly identified the problem: a traffic mirror facing her doorway from across the street.
Specifically, the feng shui expert indicated to the woman and her husband that the traffic safety device was, in fact, a "demon-revealing mirror." As one might imagine, this unsettling insight did not sit well with the couple. "We are no demons," the husband declared, "we are not happy having a demon-revealing mirror pointing at us." As such, the concerned woman repeatedly adjusted the device's direction so that it no longer faced their home. In turn, motorists who previously relied upon the mirror to see around a sharp corner were rendered blind to oncoming traffic, resulting in multiple car accidents.
When the managers of the property where the woman lives looked into the strange spate of crashes, they ultimately came upon the culprit. In an effort to assuage her concerns, the company installed a second mirror in the opposite direction to aid drivers and hopefully prevent future crashes. However, the solution only lasted a few days as the woman wound up adjusting both devices after she experienced yet another round of bad luck. At their wit's end over the situation, the property management sealed the original mirror in its proper position and arranged a meeting between the woman and the police, who warned that her actions could land her behind bars or legally responsible for any car accidents they might cause.
