A group of ghost hunters in England who reported discovering a human bone while investigating a haunted location have had their macabre find called into question by police. According to a local media report, the strange misadventure took place earlier this week when four members of the 'Proving Demons' team were exploring an abandoned cottage in the town of Newhall and purportedly found the mysterious remains behind a wall.
Upon making the macabre discovery, the group promptly phoned police and two officers were actually dispatched to the scene in the wee hours of the morning to investigate the report. Although the group were, indeed, in possession of a human bone, a subsequent investigation by the authorities led them to declare to a local newspaper that it "had been placed there as a hoax." Unfortunately, they did not say how, exactly, they determined this and conceded that they don't know the origin of the remains.
However, the ghost hunters are pushing back on the assertion of police and claim that their discovery was dismissed because of a proverbial paranormal bias. According to one group member, detectives came to his home and asked how he knew where to look for the bone inside the cottage wall. Upon being told that a spirit box had tipped them off to the location, he said, the cops quickly concluded that the whole affair had been a hoax because, presumably, "they didn't believe in the paranormal."
Whether that is truly the case or if the group is just trying to save face may remain uncertain unless the police can track down the source of the bone. While one is inclined to believe that the authorities are probably right about the nature of the remains, the fact called the group called the cops in the first place suggests that they were either genuinely bewildered by the discovery or foolishly thought they could trick the police with their fantastic tale.Were it the latter scenario, it seems that their stunt didn't quite work out the way that they had hoped.
