Costumed Tour Guide Mistaken for 'Ghost Woman' Walking Down Road in Scotland

By Tim Binnall

A Scottish taxi driver and his passenger suspected that they had spotted a ghost woman walking down a road until a photo of the 'spirit' posted online prompted a response from the 'apparition' in question. According to a local media report, the amusing misidentification occurred on Monday evening as Tex Marshalsey was ferrying a fare through the town of Livingston. As they cruised down a road, the duo did something of a double take at the sight of a spooky-looking woman wearing a long white dress and wielding a wooden staff.

Sharing a photo of the stranger on social media, seen below, a bewildered Marshalsey wondered if he and his passenger had stumbled upon a spirit during their drive. The cab driver's suspicion turned out to be somewhat correct as his post elicited a response from resident Louise McBeath, who identified herself as the 'apparition.' Assuring Marshalsey that he had no reason to panic, she indicated "I'm a theatrical ghost tour guide in Edinburgh and I get the train home after work."

Since her shift ends late in the evening, McBeath explained, the 'ghost guide' sometimes wears her costume all the way home in order to deter any "creeps" who might see her walking along the road at that late hour. Apologizing for possibly scaring the cab driver, McBeath admitted that "I honestly can’t stop laughing" at being mistaken for a genuine apparition. For his part, Marshalsey thanked the tour guide for the clarification, but also expressed some disappointment since he had hoped to encounter the possible ghost during his next drive through town.
