A custodian at an elementary school in New Hampshire found himself the subject of an investigation by administrators after staff raised concerns about his creepy clown persona. According to a local media report, the strange case recently occurred at the Broken Ground Elementary School in the community of Concord. The unnamed janitor raised eyebrows after he posted pictures online wherein he was dressed as a horror-themed harlequin roaming around the building during his overnight shift. The unsettling getup was apparently part of an effort by the custodian to win a creepy clown contest which features a $13,000 prize for the winner.
However, as one might imagine, teachers and administrators found the images to be no laughing matter, especially after they read an interview that the group behind the contest conducted with the creepy clown custodian. In the piece, the janitor observed that he shares a certain kinship with horror movie villain Jason Voorhees and mused that he also has "moments of anger, rage, and what I see as self-defense." While the custodian indicated that, if he wins the contest, he hopes to put the money towards making an independent movie and helping his family, his antics very nearly cost him his job after a fellow janitor brought the issue to the attention of school administrators.
Explaining that they were put off by the creepy clown posing for pictures while brandishing weapons and wearing school apparel, the whistleblowing custodian revealed that the situation was the talk of the teacher's lounge and many people felt uneasy staying late in the building, lest they encounter the haunting harlequin. "This is something I will not let slide," the concerned janitor declared in a formal complaint, "and I will do everything in my power to protect the staff and kids in my building." Although a subsequent administrative investigation into the matter ultimately concluded with the custodian keeping his job, despite having used school property for the peculiar project, one imagines that he was firmly told to keep his clown costume at home going forward.
