Dashcam Captures Elephant Attack

By Tim Binnall

A wild dashcam video from a car in India captured the moment when an angry elephant lays waste to the windshield of a passenger van. The jaw-dropping footage was reportedly filmed last week as the vehicle was driving along a dirt road towards the Indian village of Tissa. In the first few moments of the video, the monstrous creature can be seen ambling towards the van, which has stopped in the road to, presumably, wait for the elephant to pass by them.

However, the pugnacious pachyderm apparently wanted to make its presence felt as it stops at the van and suddenly smashes the vehicle's windshield with its trunk. The position of the dashcam makes the video particularly compelling as the footage is akin to what a person might see if they were sitting in the driver's seat of the van as the incident unfolded. To that end, one can really appreciate the sheer power of the beast as its trunk presses against the window and sends pieces of glass flying.

Clearly shaken by what had just occurred, the drive of the van quickly throws it in reverse and speeds away from the ornery animal as lets out a nightmarish roar and chases after them. Fortunately, it appears that the passengers in the van made it out of the encounter unscathed although the same cannot be said for the windshield which was covered in huge cracks from the attack.
