In a testament to the pervasiveness of psychic shenanigans, cops in Kyrgyzstan recently busted a self-proclaimed mystic for allegedly bilking a woman out of a whopping $43,000. According to a local media report, the case began back in May when the victim became enchanted by the fortune teller, who convinced her that she could perform various rituals to help the woman's business improve. Over the next five months, the spellbound client repeatedly handed over huge sums of money to the purported psychic for her proverbial cosmic consulting.
Showing an almost admirable flair for the dramatic, the fortune teller actually insisted that the woman bury the payments in a cemetery, where the mystic later secretly retrieved them. After one substantial score, the psychic vanished on the victim, which led her to realize that she had gotten caught up in an elaborate con. The undoubtedly embarrassed woman dutifully reported the situation to the police, who subsequently arrested the 25-year-old mystic for fraud.
