Fourth Official Nessie Sighting of 2025 Recorded

By Tim Binnall

A man's report and photograph of an unusual anomaly at Loch Ness has been recognized as the fourth official 'monster' sighting of 2025. The possible observation, announced this week, reportedly occurred on October 15th as Peter Hoyle was visiting the famed Scottish site. To his surprise, when he glanced out at the water, he spotted "a dark shape" that had mysteriously emerged and moved "fairly quickly" across Loch Ness. The baffling form, he recalled, subsequently submerged "before reaching shore," leaving the witness scratching his head and wondering if he had just seen the site's legendary 'monster.'

Although his sighting only lasted about 30 seconds, Hoyle managed to snap a photo of the anomalous form (seen here) and submitted his account to the Official Loch Ness Monster Sightings Register. The picture and eyewitness report were sufficient for the rather stringent arbiter of Nessie cases to recognize the event as the fourth official sighting of the year. 2025's tally now exceeds that of 2024, which topped out at a disappointing three and was the lowest total number of accepted 'monster' accounts in over a decade.
