Following the enormous success of their Mothman homage, Build-a-Bear Workshop recently celebrated another unusual cryptid, the Fresno Nightcrawler, and the adorable plushie sold out almost instantly. Unveiled on their website last week, the doll depicts the legendary 'creature' that burst onto the scene with a 2007 viral video purportedly showing what appeared to be a disembodied pair of white pants moving across a lawn in Fresno, California. While the veracity of the footage has been hotly debated, subsequent alleged sightings of the anomaly led to the 'monster' becoming a modern-day addition to cryptozoological lore and, not unlike the equally odd Squonk, something of a cult favorite among fans of the field.
As such, it was not particularly surprising that Build-a-Bear would turn to the creature in the hopes of replicating the remarkable success they saw with a Mothman doll released in 2024. Similarly, once the Fresno Nightcrawler was listed for sale on the company's website, traffic to the page soared and the "paranormal plush pal" with posable legs sold out in a matter of hours. Originally priced at only $30, the dolls are now going for around $120 on eBay. Fortunately, Build-a-Bear plans to restock the plushie when its supply is replenished, though one will likely have to be patient and probably pretty quick if they want to get their hands on the next batch of the Nightcrawlers.
