Georgia City Seeks 'Director of Paranormal Affairs'

By Tim Binnall

Looking to embrace its spooky side, a Georgia city has put out the call for a 'Director of Paranormal Affairs.' Tourism group Visit Macon reportedly listed the odd position in late April, with a cleverly written solicitation seeking someone to serve as lead ghost tour guide for the notoriously haunted community. "You will serve as narrator, historian, host, and occasional instigator," reads the job posting, "guiding guests through a world where fact, folklore, and theatrical mischief blur together."

The ghoulish position is the city's attempt at tapping into the increasingly popular high strangeness tourism market. "That's what visitors are looking for," Visit Macon CEO Gary Wheat mused,"something out of the ordinary." To that end, the job listing indicates that the chosen candidate for the part-time gig will be expected to "master and deliver the stories of Macon’s hauntings, heartbreaks, scandals, and unexplained phenomena."
