'Grand Warlock' of Mexico Issues Forecast for 2023

A colorful clairvoyant known as the 'Grand Warlock' of Mexico has issued his forecast for 2023. Much like his vegetable-wielding British counterpart, the Asparamancer, Antonio Vazquez is something of a celebrity in his home country thanks to the pageantry of his traditional January press conferences wherein he uses tarot cards to predict what will unfold over the next year. The tradition reportedly continued this past Tuesday in Mexico City when the Grand Warlock took to the stage and revealed his prognostications for 2023.

Unlike in 2022, when Vazquez used the occasion to mostly muse about the state of the world rather than forecast future events, the clairvoyant seemingly returned to his usual form at this year's press conference, offering an array of insights on 2023 by way of his trusty tarot cards. According to the Grand Warlock, there does not appear to be an end to the war in Ukraine "because the United States is maintaining it there, it is sending a lot of money" and that this will result in "serious problems on the planet because of that," though he did not specify what those issues might be.

While Vazquez warned of geopolitical turmoil, he also indicated that the global economy would be "really balanced" with Mexico having a particularly good year, though he did also caution that the country will see an increase in violence. Beyond that, the Grand Warlock observed that his tarot cards did not foretell any significant natural disasters across the planet in 2023 nor did he see any new pandemic this year. Since Vazquez's predictions for 2022 were somewhat scant, checking their accuracy now is difficult, though he did correctly foresee that Mexico would fail to advance past the group stage in the World Cup.
