A deer hunter in Idaho recently had an uncanny experience wherein he heard a series of mysterious tree knocks and subsequently smelled an inexplicable stench that may have been the scent of a Sasquatch. The weird incident, detailed to the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization, occurred on the evening of October 20th along a mountain trail near the community of St. Maries. While looking to down some deer, the hunter heard multiple tree knocks that seemed to be emanating from a creek bed around 750 feet away. The puzzling sounds, he recalled, "persisted for 5-10 minutes" before he was suddenly bowled over by "a super strong smell of death."
Curious about what could be the source of the "overpowering" stench, the hunter searched the area, but "could not even find a single sign of a dead animal" that might account for the odor. "The smell of decay was extremely strong," he recalled, "as if you were standing right on top of a carcass." During the odd olfactory experience, the man also briefly heard what he likened to "a really deep voice" speaking in gibberish. While the hunter did not lay eyes on a Bigfoot, the peculiar sounds, the tree knocks, and the staggering stench are all elements associated with Sasquatch sightings, leading some to believe that he may have been in the vicinity of the legendary cryptid that evening.
