Haunted battlefields, microbial life on Mars, and tarot cards were among the fascinating topics explored this past week on Coast to Coast AM. Meanwhile, at the C2C website, we told you about a massive rock layer found beneath Bermuda, an Italian inmate who escaped from prison for a fourth time, and the strangest UFO sightings of 2025. Check out our round-up of highlights from the past week ... In Coast You Missed It.

Could the government be poised to reveal the existence of microbial life on Mars? This tantalizing scenario was put forward by theoretical plasma physicist John E. Brandenburg on Monday night's program. Suggesting that such organisms have already been found on the Red Planet, but kept hidden from the public, he speculated that the proverbial 'powers that be' are now preparing a 'staged disclosure' of the amazing discovery. Should this come to pass, Brandenburg said, it will accelerate efforts to send humans to Mars to further study the situation and possibly bring samples back to Earth, which he expressed concern about, citing possible biohazards that might come from the microbial critters.

A pair of Italian fugitives popped up in the news this past week in two decidedly different stories, beginning with a bust in which a wanted man was captured while trying to hide in a town's nativity scene. The ne'er-do-well's scheme went up in smoke when the mayor of the community noticed that a 'statue' in the display was remarkably life-like, until he took a closer look and realized it was alive. Later in the week, an inmate dubbed the 'Escape King' lived up to his name when he managed to break out of a prison in Milan and go on the run. Incredibly, the incident was the fourth time that the fugitive had pulled off the feat, including a previous occasion when he orchestrated a human pyramid to boost him over a wall.

Haunted battlefields were in the spotlight on Sunday night's program as author and historian Courtney Mclnvale talked about these powerful locations where trauma and death are seemingly imprinted into the land. She mused that the energy found at these sites is considerable enough that even skeptics say that they can sense something 'off' about the spots. She attributed this to the vast array of emotions experienced by soldiers during battle and the sheer number of people who perish during the conflict. Mclnvale specifically cited the American Civil War as a source for a great number of haunted locations, including the sites of the grisly Battle of Chickamauga in Georgia and, of course, Gettysburg in Pennsylvania.

This past week featured two rather remarkable scientific discoveries coming to light. First, seismologists revealed that they had detected a massive layer of rock beneath Bermuda that is unlike anything seen elsewhere on Earth. The 12-mile-thick slab is believed to be what has kept the archipelago afloat for millions of years. The anomalous nature of the rock layer understandably led to speculation that it could be connected to the phenomenon of planes and boats disappearing in the infamous Bermuda Triangle. Later in the week, scientists in Canada shared the first-ever footage of a moth drinking the tears of a moose in a rarely seen symbiotic process known as lachryphagy.

Tarot took center stage on Tuesday night's program as experienced reader and author, Janis King, discussed the rich history and practical use of the mysterious divination tool. She explained that the cards originated in 14th-century Italy and were inspired by a blend of European playing cards and Indian spiritualism. King asserted that the tarot possesses a "universal code" that allows for a skilled reader to discern potential, not fixed, futures. During her appearance, she also talked about key cards in the tarot deck, such as The Fool and The Magician, and shared insights into the reading process.

This was followed by the best Bigfoot stories of 2025, which featured the most memorable moments for the famed cryptid, which had a rather busy year.
