Kentucky Man Who Evaded Police on Mule Arrested for Releasing Raccoon in Business

By Tim Binnall

In a bizarre story out of Kentucky, a man previously arrested fleeing police while riding a mule is once again in trouble with the law after he was busted for allegedly releasing a raccoon into a business. According to a local media report, the more recent incident occurred last Friday evening in the city of Murray when cops received a rather unusual call. An unspecified business in the community phoned police after a man burst into the building and unleashed a raccoon upon unsuspecting staff and customers, which led to someone getting bitten by the proverbial trash panda.

The business pointed the finger at Jonathan Mason, who had been banned from the property sometime before the incident. Cops eventually tracked the man down and, following some resistance from the suspect, arrested him on four separate charges related to the ill-advised raccoon caper. The case from last week has made headlines beyond the confines of Murray thanks to a similarly strange episode involving Mason that occurred back in December. At the time, police say, cops were called to a local bar that had thrown the man out for being "unruly."

Mason was said to have lingered outside the establishment atop a mule he had ridden to the watering hole until officers arrived on the scene. He subsequently tried to escape on his 'trusty steed,' but cops managed to arrest him following what was presumably a rather slow-speed chase. Mason was ultimately charged with five separate offenses including resisting arrest and public intoxication. While in that instance, the mule was taken into custody, the whereabouts of the raccoon are uncertain. Should the two creatures ever meet, one imagines they would have quite a few wild stories to share about their misadventures with Mason.
