A Texas couple visiting Florida came home with quite the story to tell after they spotted a mystifying leaf-shaped UFO as they were driving along the highway. According to a local media report, the puzzling sighting occurred last Friday evening as Thomas Cordell and his wife were vacationing in Miami and decided to take a day trip to the sizeable Lake Okeechobee. While en route to the popular tourist destination, the couple nearly stopped in their tracks when they noticed what he later described as "something I had never seen before in the sky."
Specifically, Cordell said, they observed a leaf-shaped object hovering approximately 1,000 feet in the sky. Described as being "reddish-orange" with what appeared to be individual lights around its edges, the odd UFO swiveled in the sky and then simply vanished. “Right after it twisted, it just evaporated," Cordell marveled, "it was just gone. I have never seen anything like that in my life." Alas, the strange sighting was so sudden and brief that the couple had no chance to photograph or film the weird object which left them scratching their heads.
Baffled by what the couple had encountered, he pondered if it may have been a group of drones flying in formation. That said, he was skeptical of this explanation since such a scene would have required dozens of UAVs "completely controlled by a computer." An attempt at finding additional witnesses at a nearby gas station proved futile for the couple as did a call to the FAA, which advised him that the anomaly may have been satellites. At the agency's recommendation, Cordell shared his account with the National UFO Reporting Center and the local media in the hopes that someone could identify what they spotted on their way to Lake Okeechobee.
