A feud between Florida neighbors reached a bizarre crescendo when one of the battling homeowners ate his own pet peacocks to spite his rival, who had been feeding them against his wishes. According to a local media report, the jaw-dropping incident came to light on Saturday when a woman in the community of Hudson received a rather unsettling note her neighbor, Craig Vogt, had left in her mailbox. In the monstrous missive, he indicated that he had followed through on a previous gruesome threat that he would eat his pet peacocks if she did not heed to his repeated requests to stop feeding them.
The creepy letter, in which Vogt colorfully detailed how he killed and prepared the birds for dinner, understandably unnerved his neighbor, who dutifully reported the matter to the police. When cops arrived spoke to the man, they soon discovered that the note was not a bluff, as he confirmed the account contained in the letter. Amazingly, Vogt even went so far as to tell police about his process for cooking the peacocks in a frying pan. In a chilling coda to the case, as he was being arrested for animal cruelty over the astounding incident, the irate man declared that he would slaughter the remainder of his peacock flock upon being released from jail, lest some stranger get their hands on his beloved birds if he winds up behind bars.
