Misidentified Mannequin Prompts Concerned Call to Police in England

By Tim Binnall

A worrisome call to police in England wound up taking an amusing turn when cops stopped a motorist thought to be driving around with a body rolled up in a carpet and discovered that it was merely a misidentified mannequin. According to a social media post from the Cambridgeshire Police, the weird incident occurred this past Saturday afternoon when they received a report from a worried resident who did a double take when they looked over at a car on the highway and spotted "a pair of feet poking out the end of a rolled up piece of carpet." As the department mused "alarm bells were naturally ringing" and so officers were dispatched to investigate the peculiar sighting.

When police eventually caught up with the car, they quickly solved the mystery and, fortunately, they did not have to call in the homicide unit to investigate. "Our officers discovered there were indeed a pair of feet," said the post, "belonging to a mannequin dressed as Prince Charming." The motorist subsequently explained to the cops that they were en route to a themed birthday party and that their life like companion (seen below) was a decoration for the event. Since they weren't breaking any laws, police sent the driver on their way with advice "to avoid such circumstances occurring again."
