Mysterious Big Cat Spotted in PA

By Tim Binnall

A monstrous-looking feline photographed in the backyard of a home in Pennsylvania has a community on edge. According to a local media report, the big cat was spotted by a security camera system set up at a residence in the town of Clarks Summit over the weekend. Upon seeing the image of the beast, resident Nick Dodge was left scratching his head as to what exactly it may have been, musing that "it's probably a bobcat, but looks like a mountain lion, who knows, could be a mutant."

Wildlife officials seem to also be stumped as they say that mountain lions haven't been seen in the state for over a century and bobcats are unlikely to be out prowling during the daytime. Regardless, one neighbor revealed that she isn't taking any chances when it comes to encountering the big cat. "I was out yesterday night and this morning with a baseball bat in case I saw something," Ann Marie Flora told TV station WNEP, but conceded that "I don't know if I'd been brave enough to use it."

Until the creature can be captured or identified, she will likely continue wielding a weapon as she worries that the big cat could make a meal out of her beloved pet dog Jet. "He'd be a tasty dinner or appetizer," she mused. With that in mind, should she come across the frightening feline in the future, hopefully Flora phones animal control rather taking matters into her own hands, since, even with a baseball bat, she may be no match for the big cat.
