A family in India has been forced out of their home by a series of inexplicable fires that some believe to be the result of a curse. According to a local media report, the curious case began around the start of the year when a holy man, known as a sadhu, visited the residence of Lakhan Mistri in search of some bread to eat. When the homeowner's daughter-in-law regretfully informed the wandering mystic that they had only water and rice, the stranger angrily rejected the proposed substitution and issued a curse upon the family, promising that their home would be struck by fire.
Shortly thereafter, the sadhu's hex seemingly came to fruition as an inexplicable blaze erupted in the residence. Since that time, such incidents have become a daily occurrence, destroying a wide range of household items, including clothing, food, and bedding. Particularly perplexing to the family is that the house has no electricity, and they can come up with no explanation for how or why the mysterious fires keep happening.
The situation has become so harrowing for Mistri and his loved ones that they opted to abandon the residence and now live outside with their remaining belongings in the hopes that the recurring fires will eventually cease. While many in their village believe that the family's plight is a direct result of the sadhu's curse, others have expressed skepticism about the strange tale. Suggesting that authorities are taking the matter seriously, a local official visited the unfortunate family and called for an investigation into the peculiar case.
