Mystery Creature Snatches Dog in Argentina

In a weird story out of Argentina, a large dog wound up in a treetop after being snatched by a mystery creature that some believe may have been a witch or even a gargoyle. The strange case reportedly occurred on Friday evening in the community of Chacritas. A witness later claimed that they saw "a silhouette of great dimension with characteristics similar to those of a dark-colored bird" pick up the dog, which weighs approximately 40 pounds. After climbing to a height of around 65 feet, the mysterious creature dropped the poor pooch, which ultimately landed in the treetop, where it was saved. Chillingly, the witness also noted that the peculiar predator unleashed a haunting "laugh" as it plucked the dog from the ground, sparking supernatural speculation in the community.

Fueling those fears are the unusual circumstances of the curious case, specifically the dog's size and the manner in which it was taken. To that end, a local veterinarian declared that "there's no possibility" that any birds known to reside in the area would have been able to pull off the feat. "With the size of the dog," the expert observed, "he would have defended himself." Additionally, the vet explained that the only predatory bird that prowls at night is an owl, which is more capable of snatching mice or other small animals than a 40-pound canine. As doubt swirls around the bird theory, some in the community suspect that something far more fantastic unfolded that evening.

One possibility put forward by residents is that the predator was a witch that needed the dog away from the scene for the purposes of unleashing a spell upon its owners. Meanwhile, a man named Alva reportedly came forward claiming to have had an encounter with the creature three months ago. "The city people who never walked in the countryside and less at night mock this," he mused, recounting how his dogs were disturbed by something laughing overhead. When Alva went outside, he "saw a silhouette similar to a human, but with big wings." Likening the creature to a gargoyle, the witness mused, "I don't believe in flying witches, but there's something sinister that flies over at night."
