Nessie Sighting Could Net Big Prize

While one would think that just spotting the Loch Ness Monster would be a pretty rewarding experience, for one individual their creature sighting from last year could yield a rather sizeable prize.

Scottish newspaper the Inverness Courier is now accepting votes for the 'Best Nessie Sighting' of 2017, which will mark the 20th installment of the annual award.

And, in honor of the newspaper's bicentennial, the prize money for the popular contest has been increased to a little over $2,000 dollars, which is a nice chunk of change when one considers that all it takes to win is to be in the right place at the right time and snap a picture.

To that end, as C2C readers may recall, 2017 proved to be a particularly strong year for sightings with a whopping 11 reports recognized by the Official Loch Ness Monster Sightings Register.

And, perhaps even more remarkable, all of the sightings from last year managed to come with some kind of photographic or video evidence.

While this was seen as tremendous news for Nessie fans who feared earlier in the year that the creature could be dead, witnesses with a chance to win the annual prize may not be too happy about their diminished odds.

With that in mind, you can peruse all eleven of the sightings from 2017 over at the Inverness Courier website and make your voice heard by registering an official vote via an online poll. Voting end this coming Monday, March 6th and the winner will, presumably, be announced shortly thereafter.

May the best Nessie win!
