A family visiting a beach along Canada's Okanagan Lake stumbled upon a mysterious triangular object that has been likened to a tooth from the site's resident 'monster,' Ogopogo. According to a local media report, the curious piece (seen here) was found last Wednesday along a small stretch of shoreline in the community of Lake Country. Clayton Brown's daughter, Chloe, made the remarkable discovery while 'searching for treasure' in the water near the beach.
"Sometimes she finds tiny little shells and stuff like that," he recalled, "and then she just found this really unique piece, and we're just like, 'What the heck is this?' And we just have absolutely no idea. It's quite different and interesting from anything we've ever seen there." According to Brown, one side of the object has a texture he likened to sandpaper, and the other side has a bisected pattern resembling cartilage or bone. Baffled by what his daughter discovered, he first turned to a geologist friend, who told him the piece could be some kind of fossil.
Meanwhile, Dr. Bruce Archibald, a paleontologist enlisted by a local media outlet, marveled that Chloe's find "sure looks interesting," before conceding "I'm not familiar with this." That said, he speculated that the object may have emanated from a fish, possibly a sturgeon. Another theory, put forward by Brown's wife, is that the strange discovery might have once been an arrowhead. And, of course, since the anomalous object was found at Okanagan Lake, some imaginative observers have wondered if the triangular piece fell from the mouth of Ogopogo, the site's legendary resident 'monster.'
