A group of children traveling home from a football game in Honduras needed to be hospitalized after they began having visions of eerie figures and entities. According to a local media report, the unsettling incident occurred this past weekend as the youngsters were riding a bus back from the community of El Corpus. The trip took a troubling turn when nine of the children suddenly began making some rather unusual claims.
"They say they saw strange things," recalled the director of the program overseeing the kids, "specifically, a woman with an extremely odd face. And a boy says he saw something like a goblin up in a tree." Some of the other afflicted children reported seeing skulls and similarly frightening figures. When the youngsters subsequently started fainting, panic understandably swept through the bus, which was quickly diverted to a nearby hospital. Because of their bizarre visions, it was initially suspected that the kids could have been drugged or poisoned. However, doctors soon determined that they had simply succumbed to heat stroke.
The case in Honduras over the weekend was followed by an eerily similar story out of India that occurred on Monday. In that instance, classes at a high school reportedly came to a halt when a student began inexplicably screaming, which sent her terrified classmates fleeing from the room. Word soon spread among the youngsters that the girl had seen a ghost, which prompted hundreds of the kids to stay home the following day. School officials insisted that the incident was not paranormal and, instead, attributed the odd event to an unspecified illness.
Weirdly, there have now been four such peculiar cases just this month. Over the weekend, a 'ghost panic' shut down a clothing factory in Bangladesh and, last week, supernatural possession rumors led to a school dormitory being abandoned in India. While, as with the aforementioned events, authorities and officials put forward perfectly plausible prosaic explanations for each of the unsettling incidents, one cannot help but notice the eerie trend and wonder if the proverbial veil between our world and the 'other side' might be thinning just a bit.
