Emergency personnel in Iowa were called into action to respond to a possible plane crash over the weekend, but the emergency was quickly resolved when they arrived on the scene and discovered that it was just a rather realistic Halloween decoration. The case of seasonal confusion reportedly occurred on Friday afternoon in the community of Central City as the local fire department was helping prepare for a forthcoming homecoming parade. Their work came to a sudden stop when they received a worrisome report of a possible plane crash and hastily headed over to the location of the observed accident.
As seen in the photos featured below, situated across the Wapsi River was what appeared to be a small aircraft that had gotten tangled in a tree moments before what would have been a disastrous impact. However, when emergency personnel made their way across the water and got a closer look at the scene, they soon realized that the plane was a Halloween decoration, complete with a skeleton dressed as a pilot in the cockpit. Reminiscent of a 2023 case in Upstate New York, the incident in Iowa is an example of what has become something of a trend during spooky season as homeowners create increasingly realistic displays that wind up inadvertently drawing the attention of authorities.
