An Australian woman is almost certainly doubting the veracity of purported psychic abilities after a visit to a fortune teller resulted in her missing out on a sizeable lottery jackpot. According to a local media report, the unnamed Perth resident and her mother had made a habit of playing the weekly game with the intention of splitting the prize if they ever won. However, a fateful visit to a mystic changed all that when she was given some spectacularly wrong advice.
"Many years ago," her mother recalled, "she dragged me with her to see a clairvoyant." During the session, the psychic 'gazed into the future' and assured the daughter that "you don't need to worry about your parents, they will be comfortable, but they won't win Lotto or anything." Putting her trust in the mystic's gift and rather specific advice, the woman decided to opt out of their shared ticket tradition going forward.
Alas, she came to regret that decision late last month when her parents won a $1 million jackpot with the same lottery numbers the pair had played week after week for years. Understandably feeling vindicated by the fortuitous turn of events, the lucky mom indicated that she plans to spend the money on a vacation, some house repairs, and spoiling her grandchildren, meaning that her daughter might see some of the money, but far less than she would have in her bank account if she had not let the psychic's 'vision' sway her.
