Puzzled Pilots Report Pill-Shaped UFO Over Ohio

By Tim Binnall

The crew of an aircraft cruising over Ohio was left scratching their heads when they spotted a silvery, pill-shaped object eerily hovering outside their plane. The compelling sighting, which came to light this week, unfolded on August 16th and was subsequently shared with the National UFO Reporting Center (NUFORC). According to the witness, who was piloting the private chartered flight with no passengers at the time, he and his co-pilot were taken aback when they noticed an unusual-looking aerial anomaly that "seemed to be almost standing still or slowing down while passing the aircraft."

Although they initially suspected the UFO could have been a weather balloon, a conversation with the nearest air traffic control tower disabused them of that notion as they were told that there was nothing on radar in the area that could account for what they were witnessing. The UFO also did not trigger the plane's traffic collision avoidance system, despite being only around 5 nautical miles away. In a later conversation with a NUFORC investigator, the pilot provided additional details about the mysterious pill-shaped object, indicating that "the surface was silver and highly reflective, like pure polished metal" that reflected the sunlight at the time rather than being "self-illuminated."

Pointing to previous times he had encountered more traditional aircraft in the sky, the witness speculated that the UFO possessed some kind of propulsion system that allowed it to maneuver around and also remain stationary at other times. The pilot estimated that the entire sighting only lasted around two minutes from when they first spotted the object to when it vanished from sight after they passed it. The relative brevity of the moment, combined with the wondrous nature of what they were seeing, prevented the two witnesses from capturing all that much visual evidence of the anomaly, although they did snap a couple of pictures (seen here) of the odd UFO.
