The mayor of a Tasmanian community is hoping to get to the bottom of a series of UFO sightings that have captivated his constituents over the last several weeks. According to a local media report, Meander Valley residents first noticed puzzling illuminated orbs over the nearby mountain Mother Cummings Peak one night at the start of July. The situation grew stranger when the lights returned the next evening and have since become a persistent presence in the sky nearly every night, much to the consternation of the many individuals who have spotted the mysterious UFOs.
The incidents follow something of a familiar pattern as the lights regularly appear for approximately 45 minutes, with as many as six orbs sometimes seen moving at unusually sharp angles before ultimately vanishing. After several weeks of the mysterious sightings, the mayor of Meander Valley recently brought the issue to the local media in the hopes that someone can provide an answer for what residents have been seeing. "We just can't explain what they are," Wayne Johnston conceded, asking for any additional witnesses to come forward.
"I just want to know whether other people had seen them," the mayor said, "there's probably a lot of people out there going, 'oh geez, I don't know what they are,' but have done nothing about it." Interestingly, while it is thought the lights could be drones, Johnston noted that UAV experts told him that commercial devices do not have the battery power to stay in the sky for as long as the orbs over Mother Cummings Peak have been seen every night. Reticent to raise the possibility that the UFOs could be otherworldly visitors of the alien variety, the mayor expressed hope that someone could provide a solution to the mystery that has gripped the community.
