The mysterious death of several sheep on a farm in Mexico has sparked speculation that the unfortunate creatures could have fallen victim to a supernatural entity. According to a local media report, the unsettling incident occurred early Wednesday morning in the community of San Mateo Tlacoxcalco. Shortly after midnight, the property owners heard their dogs respond to a commotion in their sheep corral. When they ventured out to investigate, the family was stunned to discover around a dozen of the animals had been swiftly slain by a creature that reportedly left them with what appeared to be fang marks in their necks.
Making the killings particularly peculiar to the family was that the corral was said to have been "completely fenced," so gaining access to the animals should have been a considerable challenge for the predator. Yet, it somehow managed to slay the sheep and subsequently escape without being seen. Bewildered by what happened to their livestock, the family promptly took to social media to warn their community about the 'monster' on the prowl and called upon authorities to investigate the unnerving case. Meanwhile, the curious nature of the event has sparked speculation that something extraordinary was behind the eerie event.
Interestingly, while the infamous chupacabra is often blamed for similar events involving inexplicable mass livestock deaths, this instance saw some community members point the finger at a different suspect: the nahual, a legendary shapeshifting entity from Mesoamerican folklore. Skeptics, of course, say that the sheep were likely killed by a more prosaic predator rather than something that resides in the realm of mythology. To that end, a pending examination of the slain sheep by a veterinarian should shed light on what exactly took down so many of the animals early Wednesday morning in San Mateo Tlacoxcalco.
