South Carolina Cop Allegedly Pulls Gun on Colleague Who Microwaved Fish at Station

A South Carolina cop was arrested after allegedly pulling his gun on a colleague who had committed what is widely considered a cardinal sin of the workplace: microwaving fish. According to a local media report, the wild incident occurred last Saturday at the Myrtle Beach Police Department when Detective Michael Debiase noticed a rather unpleasant smell wafting through the air. Dutifully following the disturbing odor, he quickly found an unnamed patrolman heating fish in the station's briefing room microwave. The smelly situation caused Debiase to fly into a rage as he confronted his colleague about the audacious breach of workplace etiquette.

The argument apparently became so heated, authorities say, that the officer "drew and pointed his department-issued handgun" at the pescatarian patrolman. While cooler heads may have prevailed in the moment, Debiase was arrested on Tuesday and charged with pointing and presenting a firearm at a person, which is a felony in South Carolina. Shortly thereafter, Myrtle Beach Police indicated that they had parted ways with the now-former detective, who could face jail time for the incident. On the bright side for the former detective, should he wind up behind bars, one imagines that fish will not be on the menu in the big house.
