Study Ranks States by Alien Abduction Odds

A curious new study has come up with a ranked list of states based on the odds of someone being abducted by aliens there. The peculiar project was produced by the website Canada Sports Betting, which was behind a similarly strange Bigfoot tabulation last October. For the study, the group culled cases from the National UFO Reporting Center from 2019 to 2024 wherein the witness recounts "abduction-related details such as missing time, physical contact, or claims of being taken." This data was compared to the frequency of UFO reports in that same area and the consistency of such events to develop a score that was then converted to an implied probability for an alien abduction in each particular state.

At the top of the list was New Hampshire, which boasted the best odds for being taken by ETs by virtue of the state consistently having the highest number of UFO reports per 100,000 residents. Rounding out the top five were Idaho, Vermont, Maine, and Oregon. Beyond that, the study noted that the 8th-ranked state, Wyoming, stood out as particularly remarkable with more than a quarter of the state's UFO reports featuring some kind of "abduction-style experiences." On the other end of the spectrum, the five states where one is least likely to be taken by aliens were determined to be Minnesota, Mississippi, Nebraska, Indiana, and, despite its place in UFO lore, New Mexico, which came in last in the rankings.
