Study Ranks the Most Haunted States in America

By Tim Binnall

A spooky new study has produced a ranking of the most haunted states in America. Crafted in honor of the Halloween season, the chilling list comes courtesy of the online casino Bonus Finder, which utilized data from a variety of websites to determine the number of cemeteries, ghost sightings, purportedly haunted locations, and paranormal investigators in each of the fifty states. The study then compared that data to respective population size in order to create a 'haunted score' for each location.

According to the study's findings, the Most Haunted State in America is Texas, which earned the title in large part due to having more than 13,000 cemeteries as well as a staggering "7,517 reported ghost sightings per 100,000 people." Rounding out the top five were Maine, Florida and Vermont (which tied for 3rd), and North Dakota. As for the places where one is apparently safest from spirits, New Jersey ranked dead last in the rankings. It was preceded by Arizona, Nevada, New York, and Maryland.
