An intriguing new survey found that the media spotlight on UFOs over the past few years has led to an increase in Americans' belief in the phenomenon. Produced by Talker Research, the poll was conducted during the first week of July and gauged the opinions of 2,000 participants living in the United States. Asked if recent news reports on UFOs have changed their thoughts on the phenomenon, 37% indicated that they "now believe more than they used to." Broken down demographically, a staggering 54% of Gen Z participants fell into that camp, as did 45% of millennials, and 36% of Gen Xers.
On the subject of UFO disclosure, in the event that the government revealed aliens exist, 38% said their first reaction would be curiosity as opposed to 17% who said they would be afraid. That said, a solid 55% of participants expressed the belief that society is simply not prepared for such an earth-shattering development. Unsurprisingly, a similarly sizeable 60% of those surveyed expressed the belief that "governments know more about UFOs than they've publicly shared." Ultimately, the findings of the study are not altogether surprising, as the increased media coverage of UFOs has undoubtedly caused a significant number of Americans to seriously ponder the phenomenon for the first time rather than simply dismiss it out of hand.
