Suspected Drunk Driver Tries to Switch Seats with Dog During Traffic Stop in Colorado

In a strange story out of Colorado, authorities say that a suspected drunk driver tried to switch seats with his dog in a foolhardy attempt to pull a fast one on the cops. The bizarre incident reportedly occurred on Saturday night in the community of Springfield, where the motorist at the center of the case was initially stopped by police after being spotted zipping down a road at around twenty miles over the speed limit. As the officer approached the vehicle, he watched as the man scrambled to swap spots with his dog, which was riding alongside him in car.

Cops say the driver eventually "exited the passenger side of the vehicle and claimed he was not driving," presumably pointing the finger at the animal behind the wheel. Having seen the switcheroo unfold before his very eyes, the officer was obviously not buying the absurd excuse and he asked the man if he had been drinking that evening. The motorist responded by making yet another poor decision as, rather than answer any questions, he took off running from the scene.

The gormless getaway was shortlived, however, as the cop quickly brought him down around 60 feet from the vehicle and subsequently arrested him for driving under the influence as well as several other offenses related to the wild traffic stop. As for the dog that the he had attempted to throw under the proverbial bus, police say that the animal "was given to an acquaintance of the driver to take care of while the party was in jail." They also jokingly indicated that the canine "does not face any charges and was let go with just a warning."
