Dozens of people who live in a Malaysian apartment complex took to the streets to decry claims that their building is haunted. According to a local media report, the very strange protest occurred this past Saturday when over 100 tenants from the Amber Court Apartments in Kuala Lumpur gathered in front of the site and spoke out against rumors of paranormal activity that, they lament, have ruined the reputation of their residence. Declaring that the "allegations are baseless," Datuk Seri Dr KK Chai, who heads the company which manages the complex, went on to insist that "none of us has ever seen a ghost, let alone been disturbed by supernatural activity."
Aggravated residents say that YouTube content creators are to blame for the site having developed a reputation for being haunted as there are multiple videos wherein purported paranormal investigators and alleged mystics assert that the apartment complex is rife with spirits. "Some of them claim to be so-called 'sifu,' who can get rid of ghosts but at a price," explained Chai. While spooky stories have swirled around the site for decades, it is only in recent years that the building has become something of a paranormal hot spot due to all of the attention it has received online.
As a result, the irritated tenants have finally decided to speak out about the situation as the widespread stories have caused the value of their apartments to plummet. "These residents will no longer tolerate such videos and claims," local official Datuk Seri Michael Chong said at a press conference held on Wednesday, "they will take legal action." It remains to be seen whether their collective outcry will result in the complex shedding its haunted reputation or if the publicity surrounding their protest will cause even more people to think that there are ghosts residing in the building.
