A fortune teller in Thailand found himself in trouble with the law after he allegedly stole a client's cell phone and then took credit for accurately predicting her bad luck. The weird incident reportedly occurred on New Year’s Day in the city of Pattaya, where self-proclaimed mystic Udomsap Mueangkaew was enlisted by a nineteen-year-old woman wondering what 2026 had in store for her. During the session, the fortune teller warned her of the impending loss of something valuable and requested payment to prevent such a troubling turn of events. While the woman wisely passed on the proverbial supernatural protection plan, shortly after departing the mystic, she realized her iPhone was missing.
Remembering that she had put her phone down during the fortune-telling session, the woman revisited the mystic in the hopes of finding the device. Upon learning of her misfortune, Mueangkaew boldly declared that his prediction had come to fruition and even went so far as to provide a 'supernaturally informed' description of the purported culprit. Smartly suspecting that she was the victim of some psychic shenanigans, the woman asked some people nearby for help, and a search of the fortune teller's bag led to the discovery of her cell phone. Hoping to prevent others from falling for the pernicious ploy, she promptly reported the mystic to the police, who arrested Mueangkaew for the not-so-clever caper.
